# Inspect all fuses in both the fuse block and Power Distribution Center (PDC) for tightness in receptacles. # Inspect condition of battery cable terminals, battery posts, connections at engine block, starter solenoid and relay. Perform the following inspections before attaching the scan tool. Some charging system circuits are checked continuously, and some are checked only under certain conditions.
#PDC TO ALTERNATOR WIRING CODE#
A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is assigned to each input and output circuit monitored by the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. Inspection :The Power train Control Module (PCM) monitors critical input and output circuits of the charging system, making sure they are operational. Remember that an undercharged battery is often caused by: * accessories being left on with the engine not running * a faulty or improperly adjusted switch that allows a lamp to stay on. The following procedures may be used to diagnose the charging system if: * the check gauges lamp (if equipped) is illuminated with the engine running * the voltmeter (if equipped) does not register properly * an undercharged or overcharged battery condition occurs.
#PDC TO ALTERNATOR WIRING INSTALL#
(74 Nm) # Install or connect the following: #* Alternator harness connectors #* Accessory drive belt #* Negative battery cable Testing (40 Nm) #* 4.7L engine: Vertical bolt and long horizontal bolt to 41 ft. (57 Nm), then the vertical bolt to 29 ft. #* 3.7L engine: Tighten the horizontal bolts to 42 ft. # Install the alternator and tighten the bolts to the following specifications: #* 2.5L and 4.0L engines: 41 ft. # Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this manual. #* Negative battery cable #* Accessory drive belt #* Alternator harness connectors #* Alternator #* Mounting bolts and alternator To install: 3.7L engine alternator mounting The 3.7L and 4.7L engines have 1 vertical and 2 horizontal bolts. # Remove or disconnect the following: NOTE # Install negative battery cable to battery. The water pump may be rotating in the wrong Direction if the belt is installed incorrectly, causing the engine to overheat. When installing a serpentine accessory drive belt, the belt MUST be routed correctly. The synthetic fiber of the belt can be damaged. Never force a belt over a pulley rim using a screwdriver.
#PDC TO ALTERNATOR WIRING GENERATOR#
# Install B+ terminal eyelet to generator output stud. # Snap field wire connector into rear of generator. To install: # Position generator to engine and install 2 mounting bolts. # Disconnect field wire connector at rear of generator by pushing on connector tab. # Remove B+ terminal mounting nut at rear of generator. # Unsnap plastic insulator cap from B+ output terminal. # Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
